Create Your Own Template
Website - Do It Yourself!

Ok, you have your new website, but how do you get it to the first page among the millions of other websites jockeying for position?

Actually, search engines look for several things to cause you to rank up or down.  Consider these items when choosing your content, url, etc.

1.  How does my url (your www. address) match my company name or keywords?

If you are selling insurance  as ABC Insurance, and your URL is donsmith.com, you are not matching up well.  You won't look as relevant to search engines as you would being donsmithinsurance.com.  Your scoring is directly affected by your url.

2.  How does the text on the page help or hurt me in ranking?

If you sell weather widgets and the text on your page speaks to the history of your company and you as an individual, you won't score well.  Search engines look for relevant information to rank websites.  If you Google weather widgets, and other people's pages use the keywords "weather widgets," while you are describing how your grandfather started the business, then Google will show your competition as a better match for what the user is seeking.  When deciding on content, keep in mind how people will look up your products and promote your service or product more than yourself.

3.  What are keywords?

Keywords are the word or words that are best used in searching for your product or service.  If you sell hula hoops, you may use keywords like hula, hoop, hula-hoop, hula hoops.  You may even choose to misspell it as hoola hoops.

Search engine optimization (SEO)  is the process of improving your rank naturally, as opposed to Search Engine Marketing (SEM) which utilizes a paid method of inclusion. Both methods work, but obviously SEM works overnight while SEO takes a little work and time.

Southeast Louisiana Web Developers will assist you with SEO after the site development so that your site can be found by the top search engines, Google, Yahoo, and MSN.  We submit your site to over 200 search engines with a high concentration on Google, Yahoo and MSN.  Depending on the competition, we have been able to get our clients ranked to the first page within the first two weeks after completion.
